Where this WebP to JPG converter earns its place

Two format realities shape the output. First, JPG has no transparency channel, so any transparent or semi-transparent pixels in the source are filled with white, which is why a logo on a transparent background arrives on a white rectangle. Second, both WebP and JPG are lossy by nature, so converting re-encodes the image rather than copying it pixel-for-pixel.
What it does not do is equally worth stating: it does not preserve transparency, animate (an animated WebP is reduced to a single frame), upscale, crop, or batch-rename with custom patterns, and it does not edit color profiles or metadata in any deep way. If you need a transparent result, PNG is the correct target, not JPG.
Limitations and the mistakes that catch people
The most common surprise is the white fill. Anyone converting icons, stickers, or cut-out product shots expecting a clean transparent edge will instead get white behind the subject, which can look wrong against a colored or dark layout. If transparency matters, convert to PNG elsewhere rather than forcing JPG.
The second is quality expectations. Going WebP to JPG is a lossy-to-lossy step, so fine gradients, text edges, and flat color areas can pick up faint blocking or banding, and the JPG will often be larger than the WebP it came from while looking no better. Very large or very high-resolution images also lean on browser memory, so an unusually big file may convert slowly or strain a low-memory device. Color can shift slightly too, since wide-gamut or profiled WebP images are flattened during canvas redraw.
Checking the result before you trust it
Open each converted JPG at full size and look first at any area that was transparent: confirm the white fill is acceptable and has not swallowed light-colored detail near the edges. Then scan gradients, skies, and text for banding or blockiness, and compare the file size and dimensions against the original to make sure you got what you expected. If the source was animated, verify the single frame you kept is the right one.
Color is the easy thing to miss, so check that skin tones, brand colors, and backgrounds still read correctly rather than looking dull or shifted after flattening. For anything official or financial, such as an ID image, a signed document scan, or a photo attached to a formal submission, open the final JPG in a separate viewer and verify it manually against the original before relying on it, since automated conversion can introduce visual changes you only notice on close inspection.
